1. Who we are
Deyding is a faith-first Christian dating service available through the Deyding website and mobile applications. This Privacy Policy explains how Deyding handles personal information when you create an account, build a profile, discover other members, communicate, use safety or verification features, purchase Premium features, visit our website, or otherwise use Deyding.
For privacy questions, requests, or concerns, contact us through the support or privacy contact made available in the Deyding app or on www.deyding.com.
2. Information you provide
Depending on the features you use, you may provide information such as your name, email address, date of birth or age, profile photos, biography, city or general location, occupation, education, interests, denomination or faith information, church-related interests, relationship intentions, preferences, and other profile details you choose to share.
You may also provide messages, prompts, support requests, reports, feedback, verification materials, and information associated with Premium purchases. If you contact us directly, we may receive the contents of your communication and the contact information you use.
3. Information collected when you use Deyding
We may collect technical and usage information necessary to operate, secure, improve, and understand the service. This may include device type, operating system, app version, language, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, timestamps, crash or diagnostic information, pages or screens viewed, interactions with features, and security-related events.
If you choose to use location-based discovery, Deyding may process location information according to the permissions you grant on your device. You can change device permissions at any time. Deyding should not require more precise location information than is reasonably necessary for the feature you choose to use.
4. Messages, audio, and video
Deyding may process information needed to deliver in-app messages, voice features, and video calls. The exact information processed depends on the communication feature and the technical provider used to deliver it. We may also process metadata such as sender and recipient identifiers, call timing, delivery status, or abuse-prevention signals.
Content may be reviewed when reasonably necessary to respond to a user report, investigate suspected abuse, comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the safety of our community.
5. Verification and safety information
When Deyding offers identity, age, photo, or profile verification, we may collect information needed to perform that verification. Depending on the verification method, this can include photos, video selfies, verification status, device or fraud-prevention signals, and information returned by a verification provider.
Safety reports may include the reported account, reason for the report, supporting messages or images, timestamps, and the outcome of our review. We may retain safety and enforcement records where reasonably necessary to prevent repeat abuse, respond to disputes, or comply with legal obligations.
6. Sensitive information
Because Deyding is a faith-first dating service, some profile information may reveal religious or philosophical beliefs. Depending on what you voluntarily provide, your profile or conversations may also reveal other sensitive information. You control what you choose to add to your profile and what you disclose to other members.
Where law requires a particular legal basis or consent for processing sensitive information, Deyding will use the basis required for the applicable feature and jurisdiction.
7. How we use information
We may use personal information to create and maintain accounts; show profiles and discovery results; provide matching, messaging, video, and Premium features; personalize settings; support verification and safety tools; prevent spam, fraud, abuse, impersonation, and security incidents; provide customer support; process transactions; measure product performance; debug problems; improve Deyding; send service-related communications; comply with law; and enforce our policies.
We do not use a person's faith merely as a label for advertising. Faith information exists to support the faith-first experience members intentionally choose to participate in.
8. How information is shared
Information you place on your profile may be visible to other Deyding members according to your settings and the features you use. Messages and calls are shared with the people you choose to communicate with.
We may use service providers for functions such as hosting, security, analytics, customer support, communications, payments, app distribution, verification, and fraud prevention. These providers may process information only for the services they provide to Deyding and subject to appropriate contractual or legal safeguards.
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or lawful government requests; protect rights and safety; investigate fraud or abuse; enforce our agreements; or support a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets subject to applicable law.
9. Selling or sharing personal information
Deyding should not sell personal information for money. If Deyding ever uses advertising or analytics technology that constitutes a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising under an applicable privacy law, we will provide the notices and choices required by that law.
10. Payments
Premium purchases may be processed by app stores or payment processors. Deyding may receive transaction identifiers, subscription status, product purchased, price or currency information, and limited billing-related information needed to manage access. Payment processors or app stores generally handle full payment-card details under their own privacy terms.
11. Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Deyding, maintain account and transaction records, protect users, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, meet legal obligations, and prevent fraud or abuse. Retention periods vary by data category and purpose.
Deleting an account does not always cause every record to disappear immediately. Limited information may remain in backups, safety systems, transaction records, or legal records for a period permitted or required by law.
12. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so members should also use strong credentials, protect their devices, and report suspicious activity.
13. Your privacy choices and rights
You may be able to review or edit profile information, change discovery and device permissions, control notifications, block or report members, and delete or deactivate your account through the app or by contacting Deyding.
Depending on where you live, privacy law may give you rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, or information about how your personal data is used. California residents may also have rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of certain sale or sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and exercise those rights without unlawful discrimination.
14. International users and transfers
Deyding is intended for a worldwide community. Your information may therefore be processed in countries other than the country where you live. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, Deyding will use an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism.
15. Children and age restrictions
Deyding is intended for adults and is not designed for children. You must meet the minimum age stated in our Terms and any higher age required by the laws where you live. If we learn that an ineligible minor has created an account, we may suspend the account and take reasonable steps to delete or restrict associated information.
16. Third-party links and services
Deyding may link to third-party websites, app stores, payment services, or other services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.
17. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Deyding evolves, legal requirements change, or new features are introduced. When changes are material, we will provide notice appropriate to the circumstances. The “Last updated” date shows when this version was revised.
18. Contact
Questions about this Privacy Policy or a privacy request can be submitted through the contact methods published in the Deyding app or on www.deyding.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.
